SINBION (Sustainability Unit Biologi Education)

Coordinator : Mike Dewi Kurniasih, M.Pd.

Amid the global climate crisis and declining biodiversity, education cannot remain confined to the classroom. It must transform knowledge into action and foster sustainability as a daily habit. The reality of our surroundings shows that ecological awareness still needs to be strengthened. The habit of littering, excessive use of plastic, and the underutilization of green spaces as learning environments demonstrate the need for concrete and sustainable initiatives. In response to these concerns, SINBION (Sustainability Unit of Biology Education) was established on June 10, 2025.

SINBION serves as a platform for students to integrate biological knowledge with sustainability actions that create tangible impacts. By utilizing the campus environment as a living laboratory, SINBION develops various initiatives, ranging from organic waste management and local biodiversity conservation to educational campaigns that actively engage the academic community. Through educational, ecological, and collaborative approaches, SINBION seeks to foster a perspective in which every small action can become the starting point for meaningful change.

Research Areas:

  1. Enhancing ecological awareness through sustainability-oriented biology education.

  2. Integrating biological knowledge with practical actions in environmental management.

  3. Promoting the conservation of local biodiversity on and around the campus.

  4. Developing the campus environment as a living laboratory for learning and sustainability activities.

  5. Building a collaborative culture of sustainability through educational campaigns and active engagement of the academic community.
