PEPELING (Pebio Peduli Lingkungan): Real Action for Nature Conservation Through Tree Planting at Turgo Hill Kaliurang

Kaliurang – As a form of concern for environmental preservation and disaster mitigation, the Biology Education Study Program successfully organized PEPELING (Pebio Peduli Lingkungan / Pebio Cares for the Environment). This activity focused on a tree-planting action located on the slopes of Mount Merapi, specifically at Turgo Hill, Kaliurang.

This environmental care action was initiated and carried out by Biology Education students. The selection of Turgo Hill as the planting location was based on its importance as a water catchment area and a natural fortress that needs to be continuously preserved. Through this tree planting, students were invited to contribute directly to reforestation and erosion prevention efforts.

The PEPELING activity not only serves as a learning tool outside the classroom but also as a real implementation of conservation biology. Students can directly understand the vital role of vegetation in maintaining ecosystem balance, especially in highland areas.

With the completion of the tree planting at Turgo Hill, it is hoped that it will provide a long-term ecological impact on the surrounding environment and foster a strong conservationist spirit within each student.
